We understand that shopping for a bathroom vanity can be a time-consuming endeavor! With so many decisions to make, from size to style to cabinet color, finding the perfect vanity can take weeks, if not months. Even after you've narrowed down the right size, style, and color, you then need to figure out what type of countertop you want on the cabinet. Customers frequently ask us about the difference between our two countertop options, Carrara Marble and Quartz, so we put together this overview to help you decide which top is best for your needs.
Carrara marble, named for the Italian region where it is found, is one of the most popular and widely recognized marbles on the market. Known for its softer gray veining, this marble is an ideal choice to add luxurious touches throughout the home!
Many of our bathroom vanity styles feature authentic Carrara marble imported from Italy, and we love seeing the variety of marbling that comes with each product - as a natural stone, every slab is different! While marble countertops may require a bit more maintenance than engineered stones, homeowners often find the beauty and elegance worth the extra effort.
If you're hesitant about purchasing a bathroom vanity with a marble top, you can rest assured that with proper care, your countertop will stay beautiful for years to come! Our marble countertops arrive factory sealed, but we recommend resealing every 6 to 12 months, depending on usage. For daily/regular cleaning, be sure to use a cleaner and polish that is specifically designed for marble - these cleaners are affordable and readily available. It is important to keep in mind that certain products can cause discoloration or etching if they come in direct contact with the stone, including (but not limited to) anything containing alcohol (e.g. mouthwash) or oil (e.g. soap, makeup, lotions). If any of these substances do come in contact with the stone, simply wipe off immediately, rinse thoroughly with warm water, and wipe dry. To neutralize, you can then clean with a marble cleaner and polish.
For an equally elegant option that requires a little less upkeep, most of our vanity styles are also available with stunning, high-quality quartz tops. The quartz countertops are off-white with subtle, neutral-colored flecks that beautifully complement all of our cabinet colors! As a non-porous engineered stone, quartz generally just requires regular cleaning with gentle household cleaners. However, like most countertop types, excessive heat (such as from hot curling irons) can still damage the surface. Our quartz countertops are ideal for those who love the look of natural stone slabs but not the maintenance that comes with them!
